4.2. How to force every site visitor to use https SSL

SYMPTOMS:

Site visits can use http and you want everyone visiting the site to use https (SSL)

 

RESOLUTION:

Create or edit the html document root (domain name folder) .htaccess file and add the following entry:

## force SSL
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}
